Directions to Djuma Game Reserve

Recommended route from Johannesburg

* Please use the map above to guide you. The route in black will assist, but we now recommend using the Orpen Road/Welverdiend option above it, as the road between Acornhoek and Hluvukani is in a very bad condition.

Depart Johannesburg via the N12 highway and continue to eMalahleni (Witbank) when the road then becomes the N4 highway. Continue straight along the N4, through Middelburg and on towards Belfast. Take the Belfast turn-off and switch to the R540 to Dullstroom. Continue through Dullstroom, on through Lydenburg, Origstad and through the Abel Erasmus pass, taking in the Strydom tunnel on your way down the Drakensberg escarpment to the Lowveld and the R527 to Hoedspruit. On approaching Hoedspruit take the right turn on the R531 to Klaserie and Acornhoek, also signposted to the Kruger National Park’s Orpen Gate.

At Klaserie, turn left onto the Orpen Road, travelling past the SA Wildlife College, taking the next turn right to Welverdiend. The road now becomes a dirt road. Follow the signs for the Sabi Sands through Welvediend, to Hluvukani, turning left onto the D406 (a tar road, but badly potholed) and then right, back onto the dirt road to Seville. Continue following the Sabi Sands signs to the Gowrie Gate. Once through the gate, follow the directional signs to Djuma.
