ANTELOPE Hippotragus nigerI They are browsers and grazers, sometimes supplementing minerals in their diet by chewing on bones. They are known to use their horns effectively against attacks by predators and have been recorded to kill leopard. They are a well known species in Southern Africa due to their attractive appearance. Males do form bachelor herds once evicted from their natal group. Females will produce 1 young after a gestation period of between 8 and 9 months. |
