In the Ranger's Diary we tend to concentrate on the "Big Five" or rather the "Big Seven" since these are the most popular animals. The "Big Seven" includes lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo, cheetah and wild dog. The term "Big Five" (the first five animals listed) was historically used to denote the five most dangerous animals to hunt in Africa. Fortunately the term is now used to describe the most popular animals.
 

27 February
AM
- 6 lionesses and 1 male lion ( Styx pride) were found moving west from the kill
- 2 Bulls Buffalo were found drinking water Buffelshoek

PM
- A large herd of Buffalo were found at Sydney's dam feeding and moving south towards the boundary

28 February
AM
- 1 Cheetah female and 1 Cub were found north of Buffelshoek airstrip on top of a termite of mound; lying down
- A large herd of Buffalos east of Galago Camp
- 1 female lion (Nkuhuma) with 4 Cubs were north of Paul Kruger Camp

PM
- 1 male lion and 1 female (Styx pride) were lying down east of Bush Lodge
- 1 Bull elephant were found moving south towards Baboon pan
- A young male Leopard (Son of Nkurula female) were found east of Three House dam

29 February
AM
- A large herd of elephant were found Philemon's cut line feeding and moving north
- 7 lionesses and 12 cubs (Nkuhuma pride)were found Jordan's dam drinking water

PM
- 1 male Leopard (Son of Beacon) was found north of Central on top of Jackal berry tree lying down
- 3 Rhinos cows and 1 bulls were found on Gowrie cut line feeding moving west
