In the Ranger's Diary we tend to concentrate on the "Big Five" or rather the "Big Seven" since these are the most popular animals. The "Big Seven" includes lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, buffalo, cheetah and wild dog. The term "Big Five" (the first five animals listed) was historically used to denote the five most dangerous animals to hunt in Africa. Fortunately the term is now used to describe the most popular animals.

- One male leopard we called Ncila lying down on top of the dam wall bush buck dam inside Buffelshoek - animals relaxed
- One rhino together with ten bull buffalo south of Nyala road animals moving east
- Two jackal male and female with four puppies in the den open area south of cheetah plain animals playing close to the termite mound

13 November
AM
- One male lion Nkuhuma pride south of Xibamu road animal moving south towards Gowrie main into Hofmann
- Breeding herd elephant drinking water Mamba pan
- One male leopard we called Ncila same spots from last night animal lying on top of Tamboti Tree with carcass of Impala
- Three females and One male rhino with a small calf animals drinking water Cheetah pan very relaxed

PM
- Breeding herd of buffaloes western side of Chitwa cut line animals moving north parallel to Fire break
- One bull elephant drinking water Buffelshoek dam
-Nice general game including impala nyala waterbuck baboon wildebeest just eastern side of Vuyatela Lodge close to the dam

14 November

- One female Cheetah with one cub on the dam wall Jordaan's dam animals lying down with his cub
- Breeding herd buffalo drinking Green pan inside Torchwood
- Two male rhinos north of impala plain animals grazing
- One bull elephant drinking water three on the road pan

PM
- Breeding herd elephant together with breeding herd buffalo drinking water big dam Hunter's Moon
- Three females and one male rhino east of big dam animals walking north towards Manyeleti boundary
-One female leopard we called Kurula at Guarrie pan lying down


- 15 November
AM
- Two bull rhino wallowing in the muddy cheetah pan inside Buffelshoek
- Two cheetah males - eastern side of cheetah plain pan animals lying down
- 23 Wildebeest drinking water Green pan inside Torchwood properties
- One bull elephant at end of Chitwa cut line close to the Buffelshoek boundary; animal feeding
