05/10/09: elephant cows dies of natural causes, i.e. old age
The elephant cow died yesterday afternoon of natural causes; i.e. old age. She was at the end of her natural life with her last set of teeth worn to the point of being unable to masticate her food. May she rest in peace...
She kept up with the herd and it is difficult not to think that she had one last thing to do before she died, ensuring that her calf was accepted into the herd. Her calf is with the herd and seems to be doing well.
Hopefully this is a lesson to us all about interfering, we should not unless humans caused the suffering.

I am so glad that Nature was allowed to take it's course after much debate. I do hope Humans learn not to interfer with wild life. My hopes are now with the calf and hope the herd continue to accept this calf.
Thank you for every thing you do and I am so sorry you were attack so needlessly!
With much respect,
