On the 24th December we celebrated Christmas Dinner at Vuyatela with all the staff and guests in camp…it was a very festive affair !! While the guests were on game drive each staff member played his or her role in bringing the dining room to “Christmas” life; which included a creative display / presentation piece, Christmas lights, an inviting buffet counter, Christmas tree and the most beautifully decorated table we’ve seen all year.

When the guests got back from drive they were blown away by the spirit of the night and everyone was in the holiday vibe. Just after welcome drinks a group of 17 men from the local village of Hluvukani graced us with their angelic voices and sang about 8 songs while everyone clapped and danced around them – some guests even recorded the entire performance on their iphones – what a fabulous Christmas gift.

Then it was time to sit down, top up the wine glasses, pull the Christmas crackers and feast on the most delicious spread of stuffed turkey, gammon, roast leg of lamb, fresh salads, tasty vegetables, roast potatoes and brandy infused Christmas cake homemade ice cream…sorry if I’ve made anyone hungry !!!

A big thank you and well done to the fabulous ladies in the kitchen, the meal was totally scrumptious and enjoyed by everyone – I saw at least 5 people go back for seconds :))

All in all it was a splendid night with everyone going off to bed in high spirits and looking forward to the morning game drive.

Well done everyone at Djuma Vuyatela for a truly magical Christmas Eve Dinner !!!
