Weather: October was moderately windy and hot and in that regard we experienced some kind of usual weather that brought fires around the lowveld. We never had uncertainties when it comes to rain because we knew we going to get some, but we were unfortunate, we still keeping the faith though. Shades have started cooling up the hot wind.

Lodge Sighting: October month was truly a magic when it comes to the sighting, breeding herds buffalo’s and Eli`s never stops to parade in front of our guests khaya`s, the pathway from room 8 to the Gowrie dam you could in actual fact see how active it gets on the hourly basis

Young male (Nduna) killed nyala lamb and positioned the carcass on the marula tree next to the path way from the staff village to the lodge. Ladies were only warned by the Nduna early in the morning when they started walking pass where kill was, and they had to be driven to the lodge instead. He was really not comfortable with the attention that he was getting from the people around but eventually he was done with the kill.

In another occasion we had two young male lions from the Styx pride which decided to take it easy under the green shades of Gowrie dam where they were later drifted by a group of Dagga boys who went to drink. And just before the sunset we had Leopard that also came to drink and in that case we had three of the big five in three direction of Gowrie dam at the same time. The young males later moved alongside the dam wall and to the lodge where they went behind the gym and museum without a fear and disappeared to the west between Warren`s house and Safari TV.
Big male Elephant called “gentleman” named by Safaritv crew has been around for almost a week. He is well-known to the south lodges. He`s got such a distinctive behavior, very calm and matured but very destructive.

Guests Highlights: One morning drive a beautiful pack of 21 wild dogs on drive and they later moved in where guests later had a wonderful sight. Unknown male lion called 2+1(not sure about the name) had a broken leg but it seems as if he`s getting well again, just before month end he was seen with a buffalo kill, we wondering whether he made a kill or pushed other prides from the kill. Guests referred to him as dead lion even before death.
