Bongi Dlamini and Monica Ubisi kept a close watch on my supposed lack of mothering skills, especially after Hazel had left. They noticed how badly Zoë slept and thought it may be because of the wild animals out in the bush.

Sometime in 1996 Dixon Mkansi, just returned from a bush walk with guests, came across a very vocal little warthog in the driveway leading up to Djuma Bush Lodge.
21/07/10: Chapter 14 Young Blood Part 2
The due date for the expected new arrival was looming. I had opted to have, around that date, an induction at Nelspruit MediClinic. I was so paranoid - about going into labour in the bush and having to face a two-and-a-half hour drive to the hospital - that I needed to make use of that option.

What with my ever-expanding belly Jurie was not too keen for me to do the town trips on my own to fetch shopping and wages in the VW Jetta.
07/06/10: Chapter 13 The Cycle of Life Part 2
Then the unthinkable happened - Jurie and I came down with malaria at the same time! Looking back on it was quite funny in a strange way.
