YELLOW BILLED HORNBILL Tockus leucomelasbird_hornbill.jpg (37302 bytes)

They are a common and charismatic bird, often seen feeding on the ground where they hunt for insects. They will breed in holes in trees with the female sealing herself into the nest using dung, mud and vegetation matter. The female remains in the nest with the young and the male will bring food. The female will break out of the nest when the young are roughly half grown.

They will breed from September to March and incubate for about 24 days.
