White Stork Ciconia ciconia
They are usually a non-breeding palaeartic migrant to Southern Africa. They are usually found in flocks from a few birds upto a few hundred. They usually breed in Eurasia and North Western Africa but have been recorded breeding in the Southern most Cape. They are often found in grassland, cultivated fields and mountain grasslands, moving on occasions to water around mid-day. They will mainly feed on large insects. |
