WHITE
BACKED VULTURE Gyps africanus There are eight species in southern Africa, the white backed being by far the most common. They need about 500g of food every day. They nest on the top of large trees and sometimes in colonies. They feed on the internal organs and viscera of carcasses. They breed around April, both parents incubate and both feed chick, with one always at the nest.
