Spotted Eagle Owl Bubo africanus
They are found all over Southern Africa and are common within their range. They are found in woodland in this area, usually alone and in pairs. They are often killed by cars at night as they scavenge road kills. They feed on frogs, reptiles and fairly large game birds including arthropods. They are found breeding between the months of July to January, with the female incubating for upto 32 days. |
