Spottedbacked Weaver Ploceus cucullatus
They are mainly found in the south-eastern and north-eastern regions of the country and are considered to be common within their range, changing their areas with the seasons. They can be found living in the bush at the edges of watercourses, moving around in flocks of upto 20 birds. They feed a lot on beetles and nectar and breed from August to Febuary, forming large breeding colonies, usually over water. Females incubate the eggs for upto 12 days. |
