WHITE
HELMETED SHRIKE Priniops plumatus They were named by G. Shaw in 1809, with Priniops meaning 'saw' or 'serrated face'. They are found in groups of between 2-22 birds, with smaller groups being seen during breeding seasons. They are known to make at least 20 different calls and calls made by different sexes may be distinguished. Territories are defended during the summer months and are bout 7 hectares in size. They will nest in trees and the dominant pair choose the sight. They will breed from August to April and the female will incubate for from 17-22 days. They feed on insects, small reptiles and spiders.
