b_rockkestrel.jpg (33554 bytes)

They can be found from Eurasia to the Philippines and all over Southern Africa, but they are uncommon in the Djuma area. They are usually found around mountain grassland areas near rocky outcrops, but can be seen in a very wide range of habitats. They are always found alone or in pairs but not in flocks like some kestrels. They can be found breeding between August and December, incubation shared between the sexes, lasting for around 30 days. They mainly catch and kill small mammals.
