Redknobbed Coot Fulica crisata

They may be found in Southern Iberia, North Westertn Africa, Madagascar and all over Southern Africa where sufficient water is available. They are abundant throughout their range but are very nomadic. They are capable of breeding all year round but show 2 peak breeding seasons. From July to September and another from January to March. Incubation is done by both sexes and lasts for upto 25 days. They feed on grass and water plants.
