Redeyed Dove Streptopelia semitorquata

They have a characteristic call, which can be interpreted as; "I am a Redeyed dove". They are mainly found in the southern and eastern regions of the country and are considered common within their range and found all year round. They are usually found alone or in pairs in well-developed woodland areas. They may breed at any time of year; both parents incubate the eggs for upto 17 days. They will eat a variety of fruits buds and also alates of termites. They have a main diet of seeds as well as bulbs and termite alates.
