RED
BILLED OXPECKER Buphagus erythrorhynchus They are the most common of the Oxpeckers in the area and will be found clinging onto most of the large herbivores in the area. They feed on ticks, flesh and some insects. It is said one bird may consume up to 2000 ticks per day. If left to their task, they would control at least 80% of all parasites found on domestic cattle. They will breed from October until the end of the wet season. They will nest in holes in trees and the female will incubate for around 12-13 days.
