MARTIAL EAGLE Polemaetus bellicosus

They are the largest of the African eagles and incredibly powerful, capable of knocking an adult man off his feet. They reputedly have enough power in one foot to break a man's arm.

In Djuma and surrounding areas, their main diet is tree monitors. They have a territory of about 140km squared in this region.

They breed mainly from April to July, breeding roughly every 3 years. They build large nests in big trees, where the female lays 1 egg. The female incubates from 47-49 days
