Malachite Kingfisher Alcedo crisata
They are found in most of the country but not the drier western regions. They are normally found alone on any suitable body of water, with adequate hunting perches. They are known to feed on certain crustaceans, frogs, tadpoles and fish. They are considered to be common within their range and found all year round. They will breed from August to Febuary, incubation lasting upto 16 days. |
