TAILED SHRIKE Cornivella melanoleuca Their scientific name 'melanoleuca' is a Greek word which means black and white. They are found in groups from 2-11 birds in number. They are territorial and will have a home range of about 70 hectares in size. They will often move around hunting in groups and tend to fly in a line behind each other. They will feed mainly on insects which are caught on the ground. Only one pair breed and will build a nest in a thorn tree. There is no record for the period of incubation.
