Lesser Blackwinged Plover Vanellus lugubris
They are only found in the extreme eastern regions of Southern Africa. They are considered to be an uncommon breeding migrant to this area. They are considered to be a rare bird. They are normally found in heavily overgrazed areas and not much tree cover. They are usually found in small groups and can easily be missed if not moving. They will breed from August to November, with the incubation thought to be around 20-27 days. They feed mainly on insects and other small invertebrates. |
