LIZARD BUZZARD Kaupifalco monogrammicusbird_lizardbuzzard.jpg (48232 bytes)

They are a fairly small bird of prey, being a uniform grey on the back, but may easily be identified by a black line, running down the throat. As the name suggests they will feed on lizards but do also feed on locust and grasshopper, hardly ever birds.

They have a very distinct call and are often heard calling during the breeding season, which lasts from May to December. They breed in a nest in large tree, usually constructed in the main fork. The female will incubate for around 32 days.
