TAWNY
EAGLE Aquila rapax They are probably one of the most successful raptors in the area. They are very opportunistic and regularly steal food from other birds. They are known to be attracted by gunshots in some areas, knowing there will be food. They have a very varied diet ranging from birds and small mammals to carrion. They nest between March and July on a large platform of sticks, usually in trees of the Acacia family. The incubation is from 42-44 days, with one chick killing the other.
