They are also found in south eastern Asia to Australia, the Middle East, Sri Lanka and India. They are usually found alone on nearly any inland water bodies of varying sizes and are common throughout their range, found all year round. They may also be known as the Snake Bird as they swim with their bodies submerged, with just the neck sticking out of the water and stab fish with their bills. They will breed from January to March; incubation is done by both sexes for upto 28 days.
