Crowned Hornbill Tockus alboterminatus
They are usually only found in the eastern and north-eastern regions of the country and are considered to be a common resident within their range, but do move around within their range. They have only been seen in this area at times of bad drought, feeding mainly on fruit, small lizards and insects. They normally move about in small flocks and have been recorded in-groups of upto 50 individuals. They are found breeding from the months of October to November, with only the female incubating the eggs for a period of upto 30 days. |
