Coqui Francolin Francolinus coqui
They have a yellowish to copperish coloured head and a boldly black and white barred belly, which is the diagnostic feature of this bird. They are found mainly in the North Eastern regions of the country and can be found in coveys of upto 12 birds being recorded. They breed during the months of October to March, but the incubation period is not known. Their main diet is grain, seeds, insects, and ticks off grass stems. |
