Barred Owl Glaucidium caponise
They can be found in Zaire, Kenya, through Botswana and Zimbabwe to Southern Africa, living in riverine and coastal bush areas, usually found alone or in pairs. They are considered to be fairly common in their range but rare in the Cape region. Their diet is not well documented but is thought to consist of small birds, frogs, lizards and arthropods. They will breed from September to October, with incubation lasting for around 30 days. |
