About Us

Djuma Game Reserve - named from the Shangaan word meaning "roar of the lion" - is part of the world-renowned Sabi Sand Game Reserve. This reserve borders on the Kruger National Park. There is no dividing fence between the two reserves and therefore DJUMA's 7000 ha is part of the vast Kruger National Park ecosystem.

You will never feel crowded at Djuma whether at the lodge or on your game drive. Thus you can relax without the hustle and bustle of the city and really enjoy the African savannah.

History and Philosophy

Meet the people

The big-game hunters' term 'the big five' refers to the five most famous of the great African mammals: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. These are regularly sighted at DJUMA. However, there is much more to the African savannah than the big five. All the plains mammals are to be found at DJUMA, whose ecosystem is largely unaffected. For example, if one's interest is in bird life DJUMA offers more than three hundred species of birds.
