Dear Djuma Fans and new readers
This will be my first official blog for Djuma. So hope it will be enjoyed by all the readers.
A lot has been happening at Djuma Private Game Reserve. To name a few, we have been upgrading buildings for Galago, building a pool overlooking the waterhole and putting up fences. So everybody that work at Djuma is very busy and looking forward to the reopening of Vuyatela as a Premium Self Catering Camp on 1 March 2012.
On a different note, I woke up this morning and though we had a small tornado that came through the camp, but soon realized we had a breading
herd of elephants that past through.
- Sighting from Taxon this morning. All the Elephants seen in these pictures where relativly close by the lodge. According to Taxon there was almost 30 elephants!
Other wonderful news is that we have been seeing a lot of the wild dogs over the past couple of weeks. To follow is a few pictures.

Wild Dogs seen by the Gowrie Gate on Vuyatela Access. Three adult wild dogs were spotted by ranger Taxon
So saving the best for last:) Our guests from Galago Camp had the opportunity to see three lionesses with a Zebra kill on Arathusa Airstrip. Think they are very pleased with how the morning turned out.
I hope you have enjoyed this short blog and that the picture quality is not to bad. Special thanks to Taxon for providing photos from his game drive this morning.
Kind Regards
Jaco Wentzel

Loved this blog, and happy you are starting them. Looks like everyone is very busy there rebuilding. Will the dam wall be repaired too? I heard it has very little water in it now. Sad after all that rain that it was all lost. Thanks for all the photos too. Keep up the good work, and letting us know how all the animals are doing.
Thanks for the update and new pictures looking forward to more.

Thanks so much, Jaco. We really appreciate that you will be doing blogs because as you know, so many of us are “needing” to hear about the area and the sightings. Since the drives ended, it’s been very hard for so many of us not seeing or knowing about the wildlife and how they are doing. Hope you find and get pics of Karula & cubs in the future.
GREAT job on your first blog and I look forward to more.
I look forward to the continuation.
Great posting, Jaco–thank you so much for the updates! ♥
Thanks Jaco, nice post. My family had such a great time at Vuyatela in early December. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Truly a family vacation we will never forget. I still cannot believe how beautiful the animals are in their natural habitat. Keep up the good work.
Thanks again

Hi Jaco,
Thank you for the update and pictures. I know you’re busy so thank you for taking the time.
As you can see, everyone is still missing the safari’s and are wondering what is up with our favorites and any new sitings. So good to hear the painted dogs are coming around more. Also, any news on favorites such as Karula and family and Teddy hyena boy or girl – do we know yet?
Looking forward to more updates in the furture – take care.
