Stacy’s poem

Thank you Stacy for such a heart felt poem, a few people requested to have it put on a blog so those not on facebook can also read it. Thank you to everyone for such touching comments, dedications, videos and gifts.  For those celebrating Thank’s giving today, I hope you have  a great day and I would like to add my thank,s to have been part of such a warm, friendly and encouraging community!

I sadly only found the drives,
Six short months ago,
But I fell in love with everything,
I even watched the grass grow.
It wasn’t hard to get attached,
To the animals & the bush
As soon as I woke up each day,
My computer buttons I would push.
To catch a glimpse of, gee who know,
Maybe a Lion or an impala,
A zebra or a tall giraffe,
A rhino or a nyala,
Each day was an adventure,
Never knowing what we would see,
From hippos laying by the dam,
To a leopard up a tree.
And while seeing these amazing things,
That sometimes felt like a dream,
I got to know the three presenters,
And fell in love with the whole team.
There’s Marc, the elephant whisperer,
So knowledgeable and wise,
A gentleman that loves the bush,
You can see it in his eyes.
Then there’s Tara, dung professor,
Sounds funny but its true,
I never knew you could tell so much,
About an animal from its poo.
Then of course we come to Seb,
Our cameraman turned host,
He has a soft spot for the hyenas,
And its teddy he loves  most.
I’m going to miss the African bush,
And all I was able to see,
But feel absolutely privileged
And I know that not just me.
So many people have watched the drives,
Some longer than I have been able,
And  I know we are all feeling,
Like our days are now unstable.
What will we do with our spare time,
Now there are no more drives,
I guess somehow we must go on,
And continue in our lives.
But I will not say goodbye,
To friends I’ve made along the way,
The drives may sadly be over,
But the friendships are here to stay.
I thank you Marc, Tara & Seb,
For teaching me new things,
And I wish you luck & happiness,
In whatever it is life brings.
So after all is said and done,
What I really want to say,
Is thank you all so very much,
In each and every way.

A wonderful ode echoing all the sentiments we might have regarding the hours spent on drive.. I am praying for a solution so the magic may continue.

Stacy, your poem made me cry. I discovered the drive in late June..and never stopped viewing whenever I could. I lost the drives twice in such a short period of time. You really nailed the emotions and love I have for the drives and our wonderful presenters. I learned so much from them…and they truly have become an extended family to me.I hope and pray something will happen to bring our drives back…but until then…thank you for your lovely poem, and thanks to Marc, Seb and Tara, our three musketeers for being so amazing. Also all of the lovely viewers I have become friends with in chat. Love all of you!!

Thank you Stacy for being able to express what so many of us are feeling right now.
Thank you Marc, Tara and Seb for your work… for opening our eyes to what your side of the world is like!

This is so true, thank you for putting our feelings so beautifully and accurately into words Stacy, as daft as it might seem, they brought tear to my eyes…I can remember when the drives first started (and still miss Pieter) and for me it was difficult to watch every day because the feed only allowed a designated number of people, and then when it all changed so that I, and so many others, were able to watch this magic show every morning, my breakfast was not complete without the drives. And I just love the conversations between the 3 people who, when out there on the drive, showed us what life is like for the wonderful animals in the wild…and of course we will miss all our animal friends that we all got to love from a distance, they became a very big part in our lives…very sad!!

I thank you ALL and I mean ALL you wonderful people who made all this possible for us….I will miss it terribly….

Hope you all can find happiness in whatever you do in the future, but I promise you, should I be lucky enough to win a lottery, WE will be on my list for help and then hopefully you will come running back!! LOL

It couldn’t have been said better. I will miss the drives, as well, and hope someday they will be able to start up again.

I too could not have said it better than Kinty. I was only let on to your Safari Drives about a coulple of weeks ago by a friend. In my time zone, I had to stay away till 1:30 AM to enjoy your morning rides but it was well woth it. I have learned so much from the team that I don’t believe you could learn from a book. I wish you all the best in what ever you do in the future. The memories will remain. My real sadness is that I will never know how these animals are doing in the future. Thank you all again and God bless.

Aus, your poem was heartfelt and I know how much the Guides and the djuma bush meant to you! They have opened a door and a pathwaywhich leads to Africa, for you!
Well done, girl, and thank you for your efforts and the words in your poem!

This will really leave a void in my evening. What a learning experience and such fun.

    Hopefully it will return.

    Thank you so very much.

I’m almost 71 yrs old and have said goodby to quite a few friends and family in the last 27 years and saying goodby to the people and the drives hurts just as much. However, I’m thankful for the last 6 months I’ve been able to ride along and learn with you.
Best of luck and good wishes for your next adventure….I’d love to read your book, Marc.
Guess I’ll go ride my horse and enjoy the beautiful and unusual November weather here in Ohio.
